Hospital Management
(2 to 4 Day Courses)

    1. Hospital Management after WMD Event for Non-medical Personnel Course
    2. Advanced WMD courses for hospital managers and public health organizations on principles and practices of medical management in the event of a large-scale NBC incident. Hospital management /administration and support personnel will be trained on all aspects of emergency management and processing of mass casualties after NBC related incident in hospital setting/casualty collection facilities. Students will be able to understand and work closely with medical staff on issues of control of the medical supplies/equipment necessary to provide proper help for primary care givers. They will learn hospital strategy and tactics during the establishing of ER/hospital rooms for mass numbers of contaminated/contagious patients from man-made outbreaks of bacterial/viral infections. Non-medical staff will be able to recognize and deal with the threat of hospital contamination from highly toxic weaponized chemicals as well as dealing with externally and internally contaminated victims of nuclear/radiological WMD events.

      Support personnel will learn basics of epidemiological techniques and developing and controlling quarantine zones inside/outside the hospital setting. Students will be able to understand and use principles to control highly contagious patients inside ER/hospital floors and learn to use the hospital resources necessary to accomplish this mission. Issues and concerns in regarding different levels of PPE and its appropriate use inside different quarantine zones according to the facilities architectural plan will be explained. The course will address universal precautions and organization of isolation rooms on different floors and departments during short or long hospitalization of contagious mass casualties. Students learn how to safely process and evacuate patients from the facilities to the specializing infectious hospitals.

      Included in the classroom study is security concerns, establishing corpse collecting areas/morgues, collection of contagious clothing and fluids, and sampling for necessary lab tests.
