For military medical professionals on tactical medicine of Ground Forces inside contaminated zones during biological warfare.

This course teaches the necessary medical tools in how to care for patients affected by weaponized chemical agents after a WMD chemical terrorist attack. They learn pathogenesis and development of the first symptoms and proper immediate response and treatment of intoxication. They will study necessary medical evaluation techniques and proper personal protection during medical exams of potentially contaminated patients at local private clinics, quick care facilities, and ER rooms both during and after a mass casualty situation. Physicians will also learn necessary planning treatment of the affected patient, delay effects of chemical intoxication and possible further chronic complications and treatment of the exposed patients. This course will also address private practicing physicians who will be treating and evaluating post-event patients after release from the hospital.

Practicing physicians will learn principles of medical evaluation and treatment of externally/internally contaminated victims during and after WMD nuclear/radiological incidents at private clinics, quick care facilities, and ER rooms.

Necessary medical tools for practicing physicians on self-protection, removal of radionuclides from surfaces and clothing as well as skin and wounds. The course will describe radiological hazard and medical evaluation/examination/treatment/differential diagnosis of acute radiation syndrome. The physician will be given the necessary information about acute and chronic complications of patients exposed to high/middle/low levels of ionizing radiation and/or patients with internal/external radioactive contamination. Physicians will also learn how to treat chronic radiation illness and patients with different secondary chronic diseases and post-radiation complications.

This course will also address private practicing physicians who will be treating and evaluating post event patients after their release from the hospital.

Strategies and tactics for practicing physicians during medical exams of contagious patients and differential diagnosis of main infectious diseases related to biological terrorism. Physicians will learn safety rules and procedures during medical exam of the contagious patient as well as necessary epidemiological actions for immediate control from spreading infection.

The students will learn principles and practices of preventive/current and final deactivation of biological agents inside private clinics and potentially contaminated rooms after dealing with large numbers of possibly contagious patients. Students are trained on proper use of PPE during contact work with bacterial and viral pathogens, deactivation of skin and contaminated fluids, and sampling principles as well as being trained on the principles and procedures of internal/external pathways of spreading spore forming pathogens inside facilities. They will also be instructed on the availability of casualty collection areas for the collection and treatment of victims infected with bacterial and or viral pathogens. The course will present current deactivation of anthrax/plague microorganisms during full contact medical care of the patients in mass casualties situations.

Organization of isolators in the form of casualty collection zones (CCZ) inside private practices or specially organized temporary/permanent CCZ outside the hospital system. The class will show the procedures and principles of deactivation of spore forming microorganisms and medical instruments/materials inside CCZ. It will also provide the physician necessary information about possible chronic complications for patients who were recovered from bacterial /viral diseases and it will address private practicing physicians who will be treating and evaluating post-event patients after their release from the hospital.

Pediatric care during and after Nuclear/chemical/biological WMD related incidents. This course will bring understanding and the necessary information to the practicing physician and pediatrician on the subject of proper evaluation, observation, and treatment of the children and infants in different age groups before, during and after WMD terrorist events. This includes medical exams and evaluation of the children affected and contaminated with weaponized chemicals, backterial/rickettsial and viral man-made infections. Students will learn the effects of ionizing radiation on embryo-genesis and in-utero and somatic effects. This class presents information on intracellular effects of ionizing radiation and pediatric care during nuclear/chemical/biological WMD related incidents.

Military hospital management and medical personnel will be trained on all aspects of organization and operation during high-level quarantine, and strict isolation precautions after bacterial/viral epidemiological outbreaks during military operations and inside contaminated populations. Mass casualty development and their emergency processing after large-scale biological release will be addressed. Training will show proper deactivation of facilities and equipment and medical contact work with infected soldiers and civilians. Students will be able to understand how to establish field infectious hospital for mass numbers of contagious patients from WMD bacterial/viral outbreak.

Epidemiological control and quarantine for military hospital and strategies and tactics of multiple echelons during evacuation of contagious patients in large-scale biological attack scenario, as well as organizations and structure of mobile infectious battalions and infectious control points. They will be instructed on issues of bringing highly contagious patients inside ER/hospital floors and the issues of different levels of PPE, and universal precautions.

Military medics will learn organization of isolation rooms on different hospital floors during short/long term hospitalization of the victims. Processing and evacuation of contagious patients to the secondary specializing treatment facilities, and establishing corps collecting areas/morgues will be addressed.
